In all fairness...

In all fairness...

Assalamualaikum!

As far as I know the shops which accept D&D do not price their goods or services directly in D&D, they still use RM prices and if a buyer offers them the Islamic coins only then they convert RM price into D&D price. In today's circumstances traders/services providers must refer to RM because the price mechanism is built upon RM due to the fact that entire supply/production chain and overhead and taxation are measured in RM. Yes, this will soon change as D&D gathers momentum as reliable and effective means of payment. But by

then many things will change: when D&D conquers The Main Streets be ready for extraordinary changes: economic paradigm shift, and likely dissolvement of

state bureaucracy and return of monarchy. Well, this is just future fast-forward, not the point I am trying to put forth here.

None of the shops I know will behave as per your illustration: ... ."

How on earth this seller knows that his RM27 dress is equivalent to one dirham, why not half, or 0.7 or 1.5? What is his conversion basis?

Hence, the following example is more pertinent in my view:

"...A dress has a price tag that writes RM30. To buy this dress you will need 1 dirham Kel. With a cheaper dirham say RM27, you will have to give 1 dirham + RM3.

I think this is the case you were trying to highlight, a shop accepting different dirhams, say Kelantan and Perak.

Yes, I can imagine that, but before long the shop-keeper will realize the difference in minting quality (the quality of Perak coins is very poor) and also that Perak coins do not belong to any system/organization of circulating currency.
In both cases, you still pay RM30".

Well, there are always some weird individuals in the world, and I can imagine a few who might not care about these basic issues (especially now when the Dinar Journey is just

starting up) but real business people will be very concerned with the questions above. And the more different coins come into streets the more discerning the traders will become. Eventually they will choose one standard: the best quality, the widest acceptance, the reliable authority. How about price - say you?

What's wrong with him that he doesn't care what kind of quality gold/silver coin is offered to him in exchange for his labour and who is authority behind it? Is he serious in his business?

if a dress has price tag of RM27, that seller will sell at one dirham - regardless of

what dirham

Price of WIM coins is related to the minting cost, shipment and handling fees, operational and distribution cost. The minting quality is most crucial element. Kelantan coins are the best circulating coins in South-East Asia up to date. And the standard of WIM is going to improve further more as the ongoing R&D of WIM on modern art of minting finds new technologies. If the WIM standard to be upgraded then WIM is responsible for re-calling of all its coins from circulation and re-minting them according to the new standard. Also bear in mind, WIM strives to harmonize pricing worldwide to avoid the effect of Gresham Law. This is besides the responsibility of WIM to re-call the coins whose weight falls by 1%. In addition, WIM in Malaysia is working hard on creating a network of shops through educational programs. These are some but not all differences between Authority and these "back-yard mints" who learned yesterday the word "dinar" and already rattle about democracy in minting Shariah Currency. We are not worried about competition for we have NONE. Those who are sincere and capable will work with us, those who are not will LOOSE. It is the impostors and opportunists who are worried, that's why they talk and talk about us.

I can't read Malay but I heard there are some ignorant and envious people who use internet-based social channels to 'criticize' Kelantan dinar and dirham for higher prices. The answer

is obvious for anyone with sincerity and a bit of brain: WIM currency is not in the same category with sub-standard bullion coins, NOTHING TO COMPARE. These pundits should be advised instead to speak with the same passion about the premium of the Ringgit above the cost of coloured paper, - by far more useful exercise.

For better understanding on WIM please read this article.

The only valid questions regarding the pricing I heard were with regards to:

1) WIM Indonesia (Wakala Induk Nusantara)

2) American Dirham (Dinar Wakala Texas)

I'll try to explain as much as I know.

Wakala Induk Nusantara is indeed the WIM accredited minter and distributor in Indonesia since 2000. At the moment they are still using the previous WIM standard, the one before

Kelantan launch in August 2010 when WIM standard was upgraded (first time in the last almost 10 years). That is the reason why the prices of Wakala Induk Nusantara are lower, they sell dirham currently at about RM23. However, Wakala Induk Nusantara will re-call all their coins - as soon as WIM completes its research and introduces the new standard (planned by the end of this year) - and replace them with new WIM coins. Then the price will be identical with Malaysia. Before that Wakala Induk Nusantara will not supply any bulk quantities to Malaysia nor do they have any agents in Malaysia.

American Dirham, although minted according to the weight and purity of WIM and claiming to be certified by WIM, is nevertheless NOT licensed by WIM. Not yet. This was confirmed by both, Umar Vadillo and Abu Bakr Rieger (WIM chairman). That is why American Dirham doesn't bear the logo of WIM. They may get accreditation of WIM in future if they fully follow the standards of WIM, one of which is price. As of now it is another bullion coin.

WIM is interested more than me and you in advancing the Shariah Currency as fast as possible. WIM is in the front-line of the battle and they have always been. And they know the situation. If there is necessity to lower the prices they will. If they have to increase the prices they will. It is not important for us. What is important for us is to recognize The Leadership in move in closed ranks. We must recognize people who see where everyone else can't, we must recognize men who have put everything for this cause than you or me can even imagine. I've seen a bit of their sacrifice and I already feel how useless I am. The best thing we can do is to follow these Men of Allah, to serve them, keep company with them. Then things will start getting in place and clearer. Please read this article on Muamalah and Leadership by a renowned alim, Hajj Abdassamad Clarke.

So please don't worry about the price, let's meet up for a cup of coffee and discuss on our next conquest: i mean the hearts. Our job is to awaken desire of people to fight riba as we

have. Soon there will be a few more states in Malaysia minting their Shariah coins in accordance with the global standard. There are many other priorities in our fight, not what the price of dirham should be, 26 or 29 ringgit. As a friend suggested, let us hold a gathering in your area and tell the people the good news: Dinar and Dirham have returned! We are

free again!
